Wilbert Allen, 80, Carjacked, Robbed And Left In An Alley By Four Young Women

80-Year-Old Retired Police Officer Carjacked, Beaten With Own Cane By Four Young Women

An 80-year-old retired police officer says that if he had been armed when four young women carjacked and beat him early Wednesday evening, he "would have shot them."

Wilbert Allen, one of three retired police officers in his family and a member of the Chicago force for 33 years, was driving his Toyota Camry Wednesday evening when four women he said were in their 20s forced themselves into his car at King and 71st, NBC Chicago reports.

"Usually I lock the doors," he told NBC, "but didn't."

Police say the women made Allen drive to an alley near the 6900 block of South Parnell, where they sprayed his eyes with pepper spray and used his own cane to beat him in the head and legs, ABC Chicago reports.

The women then reportedly dragged him out of the car by his legs and drove off with his car, leaving him in the alley Wednesday evening, Allen told NBC. A neighbor who found Allen called 911, and he was taken to Mercy Hospital and Medical Center where he was treated and released Thursday.

Police are still investigating and continue to search for the women involved in the attack.
