'Snapped': Did A Woman Conspire With Her Lover To Kill Her Husband?

Jessica Hill admitted to having an affair with her husband Shane's best friend, Daniel Blair. But is that all she did? Her story unfolded on "Snapped," beginning when her husband was shot dead on their farm. Police suspected Daniel -- with the help of his roommate -- had killed Shane to get him out of the way, so he and Jessica could stop having an affair and have their relationship out in the open.

Prosecutors painted a somewhat more chilling story, setting Jessica as the mastermind to the whole plot. She and Daniel's roommate each received 50-year sentences, while Daniel was sentenced to life in prison. But Jessica continued to maintain her innocence.

"When I first realized that Dan did this, I was shocked," she said. "I couldn’t believe that I was taking my children and was going to try and make a life with this person that just ruined our lives."

In April 2011, an appellate court granted her a new trial because testimony in her original trial by one witness was inadmissible hearsay, according to local station KCCI. This time, Jessica pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and accessory after the fact. She was sentenced to a total of 12 years, but earlier this year was transferred into a work-release program.

True crime stories of women who've "Snapped" are presented every Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on Oxygen.
