Joaquin Phoenix Comeback? Offered 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter' Role

Joaquin Phoenix Making Comeback?

Joaquin Phoenix disappeared after 'I'm Still Here'... and now, he may be back.

Deadline.com reports that Phoenix has been offered the part of President Abraham Lincoln's mentor in the slasher comedy book-to-film version of 'Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,' set to be directed by Timur Bekmambetov based on the Seth Grahame-Smith novel.

The Golden Globe-winning actor entered bizarre territory a few years back as he "gave up acting" for a rap career in a public appearance campaign that transformed into a bizarre documentary about his breakdown and hip hop rebirth.

It all turned out to be a giant hoax, an art experiment with brother-in-law Casey Affleck that was poorly received. Now, it seems, he's returning to more mainstream roles -- and admitting that he's acting from the start.

Check out the now infamous video of Phoenix's cagey appearance with David Letterman.
