Jack Beckman Explosion: NHRA Funny Car Blows Up At Auto Club NHRA Finals (VIDEO)

WATCH: Funny Car Explodes

There isn't anything funny about this explosion.

Funny Car driver Jack Beckman's ride exploded into a fireball during a qualifying run at the Auto Club NHRA Finals on Thursday. Miraculously, Beckman emerged unharmed from the wreck, hopping out of what was left of his car once the flames died down.

"I've never had that happen before and I'm not going to sign up for it again," Beckman said after the fiery wreck, via The Associated Press. "I had just let go of the wheel to reach for the parachute and all of a sudden there was no body on the car."

Despite the dramatic end to his run, Beckman managed to qualify fifth with a time of 4.117 seconds at 273.00 mph, according to NHRA.com.

Of course, Beckman will need to find a new chasis if he hopes to win the first NHRA Funny Car championship. He entered the event as the overall points leader.

"We do have a spare body," Beckman told Terry Blount of ESPN. "It has some battle scars on it, but it's been good to us. I know Capps will give us a battle, but I think we're still in good shape."
