Bryce Harper Plays In Softball Game: Nationals' Rookie Surprises D.C. Fans (VIDEO)

WATCH: Bryce Harper Shows Up For Random Softball Game

What should any teenager do with a free day in the nation's capital? See the sights. For starters, there are the monuments and memorials, the White House and the museums of the Smithsonian to visit. When you need a break from all of that, there is also the beautiful National Mall to stop by for a few moments of relaxation.

After highly-touted Washington Nationals prospect Bryce Harper made his MLB debut Saturday at Dodger Stadium, he is also quickly becoming one of the sights to be seen around the D.C. While back there on Monday night, the 19-year-old sensation found himself on the mall, where he made a brief appearance in a softball game.

Near the Washington Monument shooting some sort of promo video, according to Big League Stew, Harper was offered an at-bat in a slow-pitch softball game. The game featured the World Wildlife Fund Fighting Pandas and the Alliance to Save Energy Killer Watts, according to The Washington Post. When the Killer Watts offered the first overall 2010 amateur draft pick a few swings, he obliged.

Harper received four underhand pitches. After awkwardly whiffing on the first one, he launched a shot into right field that produced a loud, satisfying ping of the aluminum bat. The rookie took some verbal jabs from his opponents and walked off, leaving a great story behind.
