Adam McQuaid Injury: Bruins Defenseman Misses Hit On Flyers' Mike Richards (VIDEO)

WHIFF: Bruins Defenseman Misses Hit, Crashes Head-First Into Boards

Late in the first period of Game 2 of the Eastern Conference semifinals between the Bruins and Flyers, Boston's Adam McQuaid was ready to deliver a huge hit on Philadelphia captain Mike Richards behind the Bruins net.

Unfortunately for the Bruins defenseman, Richards quickly moved out of the way and McQuaid went crashing headfirst into the boards. He remained motionless on the ice for a few minutes before being helped to his feet.

McQuaid was taken to Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia and was reportedly alert and awake.

"Adam is coming back home with us," Bruins coach Claude Julien reportedly said. "He was sent to the hospital for evaluation. I don't know the whole details there, which we'll probably share with you guys tomorrow if we can. But he's coming back with us, so that's a good sign in itself."
