From British Sign Language to Swahili London's Globe Theatre plans to show all 37 of William Shakespeare's plays performed in 37 languages.
As part of London 2012 Festival, the Globe to Globe kicks off in April and will be the first time a Shakespearean play will be performed in British Sign Language, reports the BBC. In 2000, Yale University translated and performed the first production of Twelfth Night in American Sign Language.
'Othello' interpreted through hip hop is another key performance to look out for, says the BBC. TimeOut Chicago adds that the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre will also be giving this performance with the Q brothers. But believe it or not, London already has a Shakespeare Hip Hop Company that points out the striking similarities between the playwright and the genre.
According to the Stage, London cultural ambassadors from various communities will volunteer to spread the word about the Shakespearean performances in their native tongues.
Organized by the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad, a range of ticket deals will be available for the festival including the “Yard Olympian," which will allow people to see all productions for $156 (£100).
