Heavy Storms Move Into Chicago Area, Isolated Tornadoes Possible

Storms moving into the Chicagoland area Tuesday afternoon could produce heavy rain, hail, damaging winds and possibly isolated tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service.

After Tuesday morning's storm, temperatures are expected to climb into the 80s and humidity will increase, NBC Chicago reports. About 4 p.m., another, more severe storm system will move into the area and is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain with it.

The Chicago Tribune reports that quarter-size hail, intense lightning and isolated tornadoes are also possible Tuesday afternoon. There is a "slight chance" for more stormy weather on Wednesday, the National Weather Service reports.

The hazardous weather warning covers most of north and central Illinois, including Cook County and northwest Indiana.
