The 10 Private Colleges With The Largest Endowments

On Tuesday, U.S. News and World Report published a list of the ten privateuniversities with the largest financial endowments in fiscal year 2009, with numbers ranging from $4 billion to $26 billion. One common theme? The recession caused everyone’s endowment to slip. Even Harvard which—at $26,035,389,000—is about $10 billion ahead of any other private college in the country, had fallen 30% since June 2008, when its endowment was closer to $37 billion.
