And the 2011 Mark Twain Prize For American Humor goes to Ron Burgundy. And Robert Goulet. And Alex Trebek. And Ricky Bobby. And George W. Bush. And Frank Ricard. And DeAngelo Vickers. And Buddy The Elf.

Accepting on their behalf: Will Ferrell.

The versatile funny man was named the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize for American Humor Winner, the 14th recipient of the comedy's most prestigious honor. The win follows Ferrell's decade and a half rise to the very peak of stardom, starting on "Saturday Night Live" and continuing on to a smash hit movie career that has included "Anchorman," "Elf," "Talladega Nights," "Step Brothers," and more.

"I am truly honored to receive this distinction. I will now begin cultivating a Mark Twain-esque moustache in anticipation of the event," Ferrell said in a statement announcing the prize, which he will accept at an October 23rd ceremony.

Ferrell's win follows 2010 recipient Tina Fey.
