Rahm Emanuel Defends Skipping Mayoral Forums: 'I Have Been To Over 30 Grocery Stores' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Rahm Defends Skipping Mayoral Forums, Says He's Been To 30 Grocery Stores

As the clear frontrunner in the race for Chicago mayor, Rahm Emanuel has been hammered on a variety of issues by all of his opponents.

Aside from raising nearly $12 million, Emanuel has as much voter support as his three top rivals put together, according to a new poll.

But, as Progress Illinois reported today, Emanuel has avoided a slew of mayoral forums that covered everything from public housing to education to parks.

"I'm like 13-0 with him on community forums," mayoral candidate Miguel del Valle told the Chicago Sun-Times Wednesday at an environmental/development forum downtown.

Emanuel defended skipping the forums Thursday, and said he has spent a lot of time meeting voters citywide--from CTA stops to grocery stores. Like, 30 grocery stores.
