Hollywood Hills Home With A Sensory Deprivation Tank

Via Curbed LA: It's not often that we feature real estate in the Hollywood Hills under $1 million (simply because there isn't much!), but we're excited about this one. This woodsy-yet-modern home has an a-frame beam ceiling, hardwood floors, and wood-framed sliding doors. The doors open up to a generous deck overlooking a "lush grassy garden" with palm trees, a big lawn, and an ivy-covered wall. But the three-bedroom, three-bathroom family home also comes with a psychedelic surprise--a sensory deprivation tank.

Isolation tanks were first created in the 1950s and used as therapeutic tools to encourage meditation and relaxation. Inventor John C. Lilly liked to trip on LSD while in the tanks, although Wired reports that users can experience hallucinations, drug-free, after just 15 minutes in "near-total sensory deprivation."
