Eater Awards Show 'Girl & The Goat' A Lot Of Love

Girl & The Goat Sweeps The Eater Awards

The popular restaurant blog Eater recently launched a Chicago site, and yesterday, the blog announced the results of its first annual Chicago Eater Awards.

Eater, which has local sites and similar awards in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, Austin and Miami, gave out laurels in four categories: Restaurant of the Year, So Hot RIght Now, Chef of the Year, and Shaker of the Year (for mixologists). They gave out more than a dozen awards in New York, but as always, we're not bitter.

So, who won in Chicago? Well, Stephanie Izard made basically a clean sweep of it.

Restaurant of the year? Girl & The Goat. So Hot Right Now? Girl & The Goat. Chef of the year? Stephanie Izard, Girl & The Goat. Shaker of the year? Benjamin Schiller, of the Boka Restaurant Group, who helped craft the drinks menu at, you guessed it, Girl & The Goat.

Izard even cracked the Eater National awards, winning the nationwide Chef of the Year prize over such culinary stars as LA's Ludo Lefebvre and Michael White in New York.

Also-rans in Chicago include Purple Pig and M Burger for best restaurant, Chizakaya and Lillie Q's for hottest, and Grant Achatz of Alinea for best chef.

For the complete listings of nominees, finalists, and winners, head over to Eater's website.

We haven't scraped together the dough to get to Girl & The Goat, so tell us: do you think Izard deserved the sweep? Or did they overlook somebody?
