Milwaukee Flooding: Airport Shut Down After Flash Floods VIDEO)

Flash Floods Shut Down Milwaukee Airport (VIDEO)

Milwaukee's General Mitchell International airport remains closed this morning after a half of foot of rain fell on the city on Thursday, causing widespread flooding, according to USA Today.

The airport will be closed at least through noon. The airport said on their website that "flooding on the airfield and roadways leading to the airport" lead to the closure.

The Associated Press says the airport first "closed around 9:30 p.m. [CT] when floodwaters began covering parts of the runways, airport spokeswoman Pat Rowe said. At one point, flooding also blocked outdoor ticketing and baggage claim areas." Even the air traffic controllers were evacuated (hello, worst nightmare!) because of a tornado warning earlier in the evening.
