"Fast & Furious 7" will rev up theaters sooner than expected. Universal Pictures announced that the installment will open a week early, making the release date April 3, 2015, instead of April 10.

The news comes after the film was delayed in the wake of Paul Walker's death. "Fast 7" was originally intended as a summer 2014 blockbuster, but production was put on hold from December to March of this year. An April 10 release would have made it the only film currently slated for that date, but the April 3 opening places it opposite the adaptation of Nicholas Sparks' "The Longest Ride" and a documentary about the Christian band Hillsong.

Dwayne Johnson recently wrapped production on the film, almost exactly seven months after Walker's death. He posted a photo on Instagram with this caption: "My last day of FAST & FURIOUS.. I'm truly touched by the farewell love my film crew has shown me. Its been an honor to work with such an incredibly hard working and brilliant crew. (a crew who's had to practice great restraint daily on this production;). They may not be household names, but they'll ALWAYS be stars in my book. With great love and respect to all of you... see ya down the yellow brick road. Another place. Another time. #ThankUForAllYourWork ~ Rock"

Vin Diesel, who's reportedly been difficult on the set lately, also took to social media to reflect on his "Fast & Furious" work, specifically what it was like to film without Walker.
