'Dracula Untold' Trailer Has Us Rooting For The Bad Guy

Vampires just became cool again.

On Friday, Universal Pictures released its first action-packed trailer for “Dracula Untold." Based on Bram Stoker’s novel, the film stars Luke Evans as Prince Vlad “The Impaler.” (The character is based on the real Prince Vlad III.)

“Dracula Untold” tells the story of how the famous vampire went from Romanian royalty to the thing that goes bump in the night. In the movie, Prince Vlad turns to dark powers in an effort to protect his family from a Turkish invasion. Actor Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister on "Game of Thrones") gives him his new powers and makes him the vampire that the world still fears today.

As The Telegraph notes, despite Dracula being synonymous with horror, the film looks a lot more like an action movie.

“Dracula Untold” hits theaters Oct. 17. Watch the trailer above, and tweet your thoughts to @HuffPostEnt.
