Why This Boxing Champion Went 7 Weeks Without Sex

World Boxing Organization Middleweight Champion Peter Quillin takes his fights seriously -- so seriously, in fact, that he abstains from sex for as long as seven weeks before a big match.

Quillin joined HuffPost Live's Marc Lamont Hill and Dr. Greg Stewart, the co-director of Tulane University's Sports Medicine program, to discuss whether there's any truth to the belief that going without sex improves athletic performance. Quillin said he prefers that his next opponent is the only thing on his mind when he's training.

"After having an 'engagement,' I feel more relaxed, but when I'm preparing, I like to feel like [boxing] is all I'm thinking about. It's a mental thing to me," Quillin said.
