Edie Windsor Was Shocked To Get A Personal Phone Call From Obama After DOMA Ruling

Edie Windsor, the plaintiff in the Defense of Marriage Act court case, recalled on HuffPost Live Thursday the moments after learning she had won her case.

"I think everyone in the room was crying and laughing," Windsor remembered. "We were all deeply moved and delighted."

"And then the president called me. He thanked me, he thanked me for what I had done," she added, noting her disbelief that President Barack Obama was on the phone.
