Airline Reunites Dad With His Sick Son For An Emotional Father's Day Surprise

The airline that facilitated a jaw-dropping Christmas miracle last year is back at it. This time, they've set up the perfect Father's Day gift.

WestJet teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada to reunite Marc Grimard with his son Joel -- a boy who is being treated for a congenital heart condition, 300 miles away from home.

As Joel's mom explains in the video, the family decided to live separately so that Joel could get the longterm treatment he requires in Edmonton, Alberta. Dad and their older son, Mattieu, stayed in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan so he can keep doing his job.

To pull off the reunion, a WestJet employee and fellow dad, Medel Villena, trained for Marc's transit job so that he could fill in for the week. When Medel explains what's going on, Marc's expression says it all.

"As a dad to be able to be close to your sick child especially when they're away from home, as a parent there's nothing more important," Marc says. (WestJet agrees, so they plan to reunite more Ronald McDonald House families based on how many views the video above receives.)

And then comes the next surprise -- dad shows up in Joel's hospital room and lights up his son's face.

Happy Father's Day, Marc and Medel!
