House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) was the top vote-getter by a large margin in the state's nonpartisan primary Tuesday, the Associated Press reports.

Pelosi will face Republican John Dennis in November's general election to represent the California's San Francisco-area 12th District. She has easily won reelection in past cycles, garnering anywhere from 70 to over 90 percent of the vote.

Democrats would need to pick up 17 seats in the House of Representatives this year for Pelosi to have a shot at regaining the Speaker's gavel.
