Distracted driving is a national safety issue, responsible for 421,000 injuries and more than 3000 deaths in 2012.

The problem is so pervasive that the Harvard School of Public Health -- in partnership with its long-time collaborator The Huffington Post -- convened a panel on the issue as part of its Forum series on April 28, 2014. The Forum is a live-webcasting series about health policy produced at the Harvard School of Public Health, which is celebrating its centennial this year.

The panel was moderated by Lance Gould, Huffington Post Executive Special Projects Editor, and featured the Honorable Anthony Foxx, U.S. Secretary of Transportation, and Jay Winsten, Associate Dean for Health Communication at the Harvard School for Public Health.

Coinciding with National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, the event discussed ways we can save lives through preventing distracted driving. It also showed clips from the Department of Transportation's "Faces of Distracted Driving" PSA series.
