WATCH: Huge Fireball Lights Up The Night Sky In Northern Russia

It's been a little over a year since a meteor exploded over a Russian city and injured over 1,000 people.

The footage was captured by a dashcam in Murmansk, a city in northwestern Russia, at around 2 a.m. on Saturday. It shows a trail of blue light in the sky.

The video's veracity is still in question. RT, formerly known as Russia Today, reported that the fireball is a suspected meteorite, but that officials have not yet confirmed it as such. The fireball caused no injuries, according to the outlet.

A second video, apparently of the same event, surfaced around the same time on a YouTube account titled Meteorite and Murmansk.

While the object appears to have caused no significant damage, humans may not be so lucky next time. On Tuesday, the B612 Foundation, which is devoted to protecting Earth from asteroid impacts, will present data revealing that large asteroids hit our planet much more frequently than previously thought. The fact that one hasn't made contact with a major city in recent years is pure luck, the organization says.
