Kevin Hart Tells Oprah About The Surprise He Found In His Bible When He Was A Struggling Comic (VIDEO)

What Kevin Hart Found In His Bible Made Oprah Gasp

When Kevin Hart decided to pursue stand-up comedy 18 years ago, his mother told him she would support him -- but he had one year to prove to her that he could make it. During his upcoming appearance on "Oprah Prime," Hart tells Oprah about the clever approach his mother took to help him survive that difficult first year.

In the beginning, Hart says he was in love with standup comedy but low on money. "I haven't paid my rent in like a month," he tells Oprah in the above video. "I'm like, 'Mom, the rent. Where's the rent at?'"

Hart says his mother responded with: "Have you been reading your Bible?"

He hadn't. A week goes by, then another. Again, Hart asks his mother for rent money. Again, the same response. "Have you read your Bible?"

Another month goes by, and Hart shows his mom the eviction notice put on his door. "She said, 'Talk to me when you read your Bible,'" he says.

Hart went back home, finally ready to appease his mother and open up his Bible. Watch the video to see what he found inside that made Oprah gasp.

Hart's appearance on "Oprah Prime" airs Sunday, March 23 at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
