'Faking It' Trailer Shows High Schoolers Pretending To Be Lesbians

New MTV Show Declares Lesbians Rule High School

MTV's latest scripted show, "Faking It," declares a new hierarchy in high school: lesbians rule the halls.

The trailer for the new show (above) follows Karma (Katie Stevens) and Amy (Rita Volk) who will try anything to be popular. At a party, someone declares them lesbians, decides they should be homecoming queens and their popularity shoots through the roof.

In an interview with Buzzfeed, "Faking It" showrunner Carter Covington said, "I realized there are schools out there where being gay is no longer a problem, and tolerance is viewed as an asset. It made me think 'Faking It' could work if we set it a high school like that and had one of the girls actually have a crush on her best friend.”

"Faking It" premieres April 22 at 10:30 p.m. EDT on MTV.
