Brittany Murphy's Last Movie, 'Something Wicked,' To Be Released In April

Brittany Murphy's Last Movie Finally Heads To Theaters

Brittany Murphy's last film is finally heading to the big screen, more than four years after her death at the age of 32.

"Something Wicked" will open on April 4 in Eugene, Ore., where the movie was filmed, and then expand to other cities in the Pacific Northwest over the following weeks and possible a wider release after that, according to the film's website.

"The first months of reviewing the footage and starting to put things together and then seeing her and hearing her voice, it's very emotional," writer and producer Joe Colleran told the New York Daily News.

The film, directed by Darin Scott, is described as a thriller about a young couple's new marriage "sabotaged by a manipulative, psychotic acquaintance," Us Magazine reports.

"Something Wicked" also stars Shantel VanSanten, John Robinson, Julian Morris and James Patrick Stuart.

Murphy's death in December 2009 was attributed to pneumonia, anemia and multiple drug intoxication. Five months later, her husband, Simon Monjack, died of acute pneumonia and severe anemia.

Last year, the actress' father, Angelo Bertolotti, claimed Murphy had been poisoned. The county coroner has dismissed that assertion, saying there are no plans to reopen the case.

Clarification: Language has been updated to specify the current status of the case.
