The Moment thredUP CEO James Reinhart Knew He Wanted To Inspire Others

James Reinhart, the co-founder and CEO of thredUP, has been an entrepreneur since childhood, and he can pinpoint the exact moment he knew what his future would hold.

When he was 10 years old, Reinhart started a lawn-mowing business in his neighborhood, he told HuffPost Live's Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani. His goal was to mow every lawn on his street, but he knew he could only accomplish it by recruiting friends who would do some of the work for him. His solution was to collect customers who paid him $15 to mow their lawns, then outsource to a friend who would do the work for $10.

Reinhart remembers the amazing feeling of leading a team to a common goal, which has motivated him in every business venture he's taken on.

"With all the teams that I ever built since I was 10, there's certainly no high like looking out at other people who are looking to you for direction. That rush is what has fueled me ever since," he said.

The joy of galvanizing a team that is united by a common vision for success has become Reinhart's favorite thing about running a business.

"There's a tremendous amount of satisfaction knowing that you set your mind to accomplish something and that you were able to inspire other people to be part of that journey," he said.
