Van Jones, Former White House Green Jobs Czar, To Rejoin Center For American Progress

Former White House green jobs czar Van Jones is set to return to progressive think-tank the Center For American Progress to lead a new "Green Opportunity Initiative."

Just five months ago, Jones was forced to resign from his administration post following news that he had signed a "truther" petition, which asked for the government to open expanded investigations about potential inside government involvement in 9/11.

Jones' new green initiative at CAP will focus on developing "green enterprise zones," which would help push the development of clean technology in poorer areas, advocating for an aggressive national renewable energy standard, and fostering an improved "Home Star" program that would provide federal incentives to make homes more energy-efficient.

On Friday, Jones will also receive the NAACP's Image Award for his work advancing civil rights and environmental protection.
