'Half-Ton Killer: Transformed': Mayra Rosales Lost Nearly 800 Pounds

Mayra Rosales rose to fame in 2008 for claiming to have killed her 2-year-old nephew by sitting on him. She weighed 1,100 lbs. then, but she was lying to cover for her sister. Mayra decided to do this because she thought she was near death. On the TLC special "Half-Ton Killer: Transformed," Mayra had made the tougher decision to fight for her life and health.

Now 32-years old, Mayra underwent gastric bypass surgery and has lost nearly 800 pounds. At the time of the special, she was down to 350 pounds. She also achieved a major milestone, walking unaided for the first time in over ten years. She now lives in her own apartment and works in a hospital counseling patients with obesity problems. PopDust's Maxine Page called her transformation amazing.

According to Mayra, her sister's surviving children were her inspiration for getting healthy. While her sister is serving a 15-year sentence for the murder of her son, Mayra is working to get custody of her other children. She told ABC News, "They were first to know when I was able to stand up for the first time, and then when they saw me walking, they saw me walk in the door, they were very excited ... They are my motivation."
