Lions Fumble Ball On Fake Field Goal Attempt, Steelers Rally To Win (VIDEO)

Lions Fake FG Fumble Leads To Steelers' Comeback

Rather than settle for three points, the Detroit Lions decided to get tricky. It cost them. Facing a 4th and 3 from Pittsburgh's 10-yard line, the Lions lined up for a 27-yard field goal that would have given them a seven-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Detroit faked it instead.

The holder, punter Sam Martin, took off and ran with the ball. It looked as if Martin reached the first down but he coughed up the ball after getting hit by two Steelers defenders. Pittsburgh's Steve McLendon recovered the ball at the 3-yard line.

Ben Roethlisberger led the Steelers 96 yards down the field in 16 plays for the go-ahead touchdown drive. Pittsburgh never looked back.

Matthew Stafford was intercepted on a deep pass to Calvin Johnson on Detroit's next possession and the Steelers capitalized with a touchdown five plays later. Pittsburgh went on to win 37-27.
