Childish Gambino Debuts 'Shadows,' Explains Instagram Notes on 'The Arsenio Hall Show'

Childish Gambino Performs 'Shadows'

Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, appeared on Tuesday night's episode of "The Arsenio Hall Show," performing the new song "Shadows" off his upcoming album "Because The Internet."

Recruiting the slick fingers of bassist Thundercat for the groovy number's debut, Glover sat on Hall's couch for the majority of the performance. The love song gently bounces along for the first three minutes, featuring Glover's signature humorous word play, until breaking out into a full-fledged jam (with the rapper's falsetto croons hovering over top).

Before his performance, Glover discussed the rumors surrounding his departure from "Community" to focus on his rap career, saying the reason was simply that he "wanted to do other stuff."

Glover also answered a few questions about the recent and troubling hotel notes he posted on Instagram. When asked about the statement, "I hate caring what people think," he explained:

Yeah, I mean, I care what people think. People are always talking about how you shouldn't care what people think, but you should, you really should. If I sneeze in your face, you shouldn't be, "Ahhh, it's not me." It's always important to care what other people think because that's what connects us. I want to do the best thing I can, but I'm insecure about a lot of stuff. I'm awkward about stuff. But I wish I didn't feel that way so much that it stopped me from doing stuff that I really love doing. Everyone's so afraid now now of offending, and of being misunderstood, but that's going to happen.
