Auburn's Chris Davis Muffed Punt, Then Returned It 85 Yards For A Touchdown vs. Tennessee (VIDEO)

WATCH: Near Disaster Turns Into 85-Yard Touchdown

If at first you don't succeed then just pick up the ball up and run 85 yards for a touchdown.

This was, more or less, the lesson to be learned from Chris Davis' 85-yard punt return touchdown for No. 9 Auburn against Tennessee on Saturday afternoon in Knoxville. The senior cornerback was camped at the Auburn 15-yard line early in the second quarter as a punt dropped to him but he couldn't cleanly catch the ball. Rather than play it safe and just fall on the live ball, Davis scooped it up and set off on a mazy touchdown run that left several Volunteers whiffing at him just as he'd initially whiffed at the ball. Unlike Davis, those defenders didn't recover to make a memorable play.

The unlikely Auburn touchdown broke a 13-13 deadlock and Tennessee would never catch up.
