Alabama Election: Bradley Byrne, Dean Young Face Off In Congressional Runoff

Bradley Byrne, Dean Young Face Off In Congressional Runoff

Republican congressional candidate Dean Young will face off against fellow Republican Bradley Byrne in a runoff election in Alabama's 1st district on Tuesday.

Byrne and Young topped a field of nine candidates in the initial GOP primary. According to the Washington Post, a runoff election was triggered because no candidate was on pace to win more than 50 percent of the vote in the September primary.

Young made headlines this week after Mother Jones revealed he'd said Alabama's gay rights activists should "go back to California or Vermont or wherever they came from."
