Lance Armstrong Doped In Front Of Sheryl Crow And She Told Investigator: REPORT

REPORT: Lance Armstrong Doped In Front Of Sheryl Crow

Sheryl Crow witnessed Lance Armstrong receive an illicit blood transfusion while they were dating in 2004, according to a soon to be released book about the disgraced cyclist's extensive doping program.

In an excerpt from ”Wheelmen: Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France, and the Greatest Sports Conspiracy Ever” obtained by The New York Daily News, Wall Street Journal reporters Reed Albergotti and Vanessa O’Connell revealed that the Grammy Award-winning musician spoke with a Food and Drug Administration criminal investigator about her knowledge of Armstrong's doping routine.

“Rather than try to hide the transfusion from her, Armstrong was completely open about it,” Albergotti and O’Connell wrote, according to the Daily News. “He trusted that Crow would have no desire to tell the press or anyone else about the team’s doping program. He explained that it was simply part of the sport – that all cyclists were doing the same thing.”

Crow and Armstrong began dating in 2003. They were engaged in 2005 but split in 2006.

Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles (1999-2005) and banned from cycling for life following a damning report on his extensive doping issued by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency in October 2012. After years of strident denials, Armstrong then confessed the extensive doping to Oprah Winfrey in January 2013. Shortly after his televised admission of cheating, Celebuzz reported that Crow was twice named in affidavits submitted to the USADA.

According to Frankie Andreu, another member of Armstrong's U.S. Postal Service cycling team, Crow was present around 2004 during a discussion about doping. In his affidavit, Andreu reportedly claimed that he and his wife, Betsy, were summoned to Armstrong's hotel room with Crow present and convinced to retract her statements that Armstrong told doctors treating him for cancer that he had doped.
