Jessica Alba Talks Body Image Issues, Wearing A Corset With Health Magazine

Jessica Alba Opens Up About Body Image Issues

Yes, even Jessica Alba has had to deal with body image issues.

The 32-year-old actress managed to find some time in between parenting and running a business to sit down with Health magazine and discuss her life as a woman and a mom.

After 20 years in the business, Alba has blossomed into her own person and is no longer focused on pleasing anyone else. She has also left her body image issues behind.

"I was a lot more critical of my body when it was probably pretty awesome," she said. "It's like, why did I not ever wear jean shorts? That's so crazy. I was so skinny! I didn't have any cellulite...what was I thinking?! I was more willing to wear short skirts after I had my kids. I never wore them before. Ever. I was so self-conscious ... Now I'm a lot more confident in my skin—because who cares? At the end of the day, it's so much time spent on something that really doesn't matter that much."

These days, the brunette beauty has taken to a natural lifestyle. She uses organic cleaning products, cooks with broth instead of oil, changes up her exercise routine and tries to curb her snacking. Still, she does admit to at least one unnatural trick for her body: a corset.

Alba previously told Net-a-Porter's digital magazine, The Edit, that she wore a corset for three months after the births of her kids in 2008 and 2011 in order to get her physique back. She called the experience "sweaty" but worth it.

"Your muscles are completely stretched," she explained to Health. "It gets the muscle memory going quicker. It's just to get your body back. Because everything is everywhere!"

Alba will be back on the big screen next month in "Machete Kills," co-starring Danny Trejo, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara and Charlie Sheen. The flick hits theaters Oct. 11.
