'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Premiere: Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher And The Cast Preview Their Fox Comedy (VIDEO)

Why 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' Is Worth Watching

Fox's Tuesday night comedy line-up has two very different additions this season: "Dads," which has been named the worst new show on TV, and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine," which is a resounding critical favorite.

Let's focus on the positive here: "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" (premieres Tues., Sept. 17 at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox) deserves all the critical praise. Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher lead a cast full of strong comedic voices, including Joe Lo Truglio, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz and stand-out star, comedian Chelsea Peretti.

"We have sort of a mid-level precinct, in terms of functionality, but Andre is an over-achieving captain," Samberg says. "It's his first time being a captain ... he's not gonna screw it up, as he says in the pilot."

"The first thing, of course, is that he runs up against all of these goofball detectives -- these irreverent, sort of highly skilled but very lax kind of detectives," Braugher says.

But with all the comic talent on the show, Braugher -- most known for his dramatic work -- gets the most props for being funny. "He's funny because he's subtle, and everything he says ... I feel like he's like the President of the United States," Peretti says before stumbling to try to find the word composure, which she then jokes that she obviously doesn't have.

But Peretti does have the best stamp of approval ever from co-star Terry Crews: "I want to announce Chelsea Peretti is one of the funniest ladies I have ever seen. Ever. She's is hilarious. She steals every scene she's in. I'm telling everybody: The best kept secret in the world."
