Fusion Unveils Programming, Including Nightly Comedy Block With David Javerbaum

Fusion Finalizes Lineup

ABC News and Univision's new cable channel Fusion unveiled its programming, including a nightly comedy block, on Thursday.

The channel, which will launch October 28, announced that it has hired former Daily Show executive producer and head writer David Javerbaum as executive producer in charge of developing its primetime comedy shows.

"I feel incredibly lucky to be getting in on the ground floor at Fusion," Javerbaum said in a statement. “I’ve never felt prouder to be a fifth-generation Hispanic-American." Fusion interim president Beau Ferrari praised him in an email to staff, calling him a "true creative visionary."

Javerbaum will oversee "Open Source with Leon Krauze,” which airs at 10 p.m. Also in Fusion's comedy block are “Sports Bar,” a sports and comedy talk show, at 9 p.m. and a half-hour nightly satire show with The Jim Henson Company.

TV Newser reported on Fusion's primetime lineup as well as weekend programming. Jorge Ramos, who anchors “Noticiero Univision” and “Al Punto,” will host “America with Jorge Ramos” at 8 p.m. Alicia Menendez will host at 7 PM and Derrick N. Ashong, also known at DNA, will host at 6 p.m.
