How to Be a Happy Glamper

I do NOT camp, I GLAMP. Trust me, they are not the same thing. Yes, there is a tent, there is no running water, but NO, I am by no means roughing it.

It's hard not to be inspired by Mother Nature. I'm personally happiest and most at peace at the beach, hearing waves crash against the shore while falling asleep under the stars. Yes -- it's true... I glamp on the beach!

No that isn't a typo. I do NOT camp, I GLAMP. Trust me, they are not the same thing. Yes, there is a tent, there is no running water, but NO, I am by no means roughing it.

Still not seeing it? Camping usually means a tent, sleeping bag, water and food rations. Glamping, on the other hand, means a tent, sleeping bag (or duvet) on top of a pillow-top air mattress, memory-foam pillow, battery-operated fans, iPods, iPod speakers, iPad, wine, cheese, all the fixings for a clam bake, full folding-lounge chair, tiki lights, a screened canopy, tablecloths (made from real cloth, of course), a portable gas BBQ and anything else you NEED for a night out of the house.

I don't consider this cheating, I think of it as enjoying the great outdoors with flair. I like to think of myself as living life the eco-chic way, and glamping definitely fits the bill!

A big part of glamping is staying glamorous, so what could be better than a moonlight pedicure? No chemicals or heavy products needed -- sand is nature's exfoliant! Here is what you'll need:

  • Handful of sand
  • Bowl of clean water
  • Your favorite 5-free nail polish
  • Book of matches

Just grab a handful of sand and gently scrub your feet to make them sandal-ready, while also enjoying the beautiful view. If you're feeling extra fabulous, brighten up those toes with your favorite chemical-free nail polish (I personally love LVX and Deborah Lippmann). Bonus tip: if you are in desperate need of a nail file, try a book of matches, or the side of a dime for an easy DIY version!

Afraid of bugs? Me, too! Here's a natural way to keep the bugs at bay: lemon eucalyptus essential oil. Watch here, for the tutorial.
