Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively might have one of the most talked-about whirlwind romances in Hollywood today, but the two are famously hush-hush about their private life. Now, Reynolds is opening up about not opening up, and about his plans to have a big family with his new bride.
"I don't intentionally try to be evasive about that stuff," he said in the August 2013 issue of Details. "If you ask me to describe my relationship, I mean -- words are too clumsy to accurately describe how I feel in that regard, particularly in an interview. It's a strange thing. I understand the climate we live in and why people are curious. But it's just tough and almost emotionally violent -- for anyone, I think -- to see your personal life summarized in a sentence."
Prior to marrying the "Gossip Girl" star, Reynolds had two romances that were tabloid fodder: his engagement to Alanis Morissette, from 2004 to 2007, and his marriage to Scarlett Johansson, from 2008 to 2010.
He married Lively in a surprise South Carolina wedding last September, just one year after they began dating. Aside from a handful of photos published in Martha Stewart Weddings, the couple has kept their relationship under wraps (and away from the paparazzi, though the paps still manage to catch them at the airport from time to time).
Reynolds was willing to share a bit more personal info with Details, however. He revealed that he and Lively want lots of babies to fill up their Bedford, N.Y., abode.
"We'd love to have a big family," the 36-year-old told the mag. "We both come from big families -- my parents did four, Blake's did five. A lot of people say it's crazy, but we'll only know when we're there, you know? We'll walk through that fire pretty happily, I think."
The 25-year-old actress would likely second that notion. "I've always wanted a big family," she told Allure last year. "Oh, I'd love 30 [kids] if I could."
