The reports of Dwight Howard's visits with free agent suitors and of the various factors in his highly anticipated decision have gotten so numerous that an NFL reporter has gotten in on the action. ESPN's NFL reporter Adam Schefter delivered perhaps the most important tidbit of the week on Thursday, tweeting that the 2013 edition of the "Dwightmare" could end on Friday.
The teams in the mix have made their pitches and Howard reportedly went to Colorado to weigh his options. Will he stay with the Lakers? Will a surprise team swoop in? Or will one of the Texas teams reel in Howard?
Here's some of the latest buzz that has been swirling around the most coveted free agent of the summer.
- According to Brian Windhorst and Marc Stein of ESPN.com, the Golden State Warriors have become "increasingly convinced they have a legitimate shot" at signing Howard. Per the report, they're even trying to trade away players to create cap space.
UPDATE, 4:09 p.m.: Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports tweeted on Friday that Golden State has dropped out of the Dwight sweepstakes after reaching an agreement with Andre Iguodala.
UPDATE #2, 4:21 p.m.: Wojnarowski later tweeted that Golden State might still be in play for Howard.
