Sony Ericsson has officially unveiled its first android device: the Xperia X10, running Sony Ericsson's "Rachael" android interface (see video demonstration below).
This new platform--dubbed the "user experience platform"--will run on top of Google's Android. The Telegraph explains,
The interface - known as the UX platform - will be overlaid on the existing Google Android foundations to provide "unrivalled" integration of social media services, and Sony Ericsson says it will be the first mobile phone to "truly humanise the way people interact with their phones".

That is to say, a 1GHz Snapdragon chip from Qualcomm, wide 4-inch capacitive touch display, 8.1 megapixel camera with LED flash, and a thoroughly tricked out Android skin named Rachael.
SlashGear says of the release date for the Android phone:
Sony Ericsson are saying they'll release the XPERIA X10 in Q1 2010, though when pushed they did confirm it's unlikely to be either at the very beginning or very end of that quarter. We're guessing the smartphone will have its official debut at Mobile World Congress in February 2010 and go on sale in Europe shortly after; Sony Ericsson are hoping for a global roll-out (including the US and Japan) but they recognize that some geographies (we're looking at you, North America) are more carrier-controlled than others and so timescales vary. No word on pricing at this stage.
