'Deadliest Catch': A Fireworks Mishap Costs One Crewman His Job (VIDEO)

Fireworks Disaster Costs Crewman His Job On 'Deadliest Catch'

It turns out that the job isn't always the most dangerous thing the crews can face on "Deadliest Catch." For Time Bandit deckhand, Dave, it was a celebration.

The crew was celebrating the Seattle Seahawks big playoffs comeback and decided to set off some fireworks, but the celebration turned disastrous for Dave, who wound up with his hand shattered by a 60-gram mortar.

In excruciating pain, Dave was rushed for emergency medical treatment. The end result was even worse than anyone could have imagined. He'd fractured his radius, and his season was over just like that.

As Zap2It described it, a "bang" and "blood" are never a good combination. And while it was a freak accident, it was horrible that Dave was going to miss his whole season.

Tweeters agreed, fireworks weren’t a good idea. Still, they felt bad for Dave -- he just wanted to have a little fun and wound up having to leave his job.

"Deadliest Catch" continues on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on Discovery.
