Colin Kaepernick Graduation Surprise: 49ers' Quarterback Attends High School Graduation

NFL Quarterback Gives His High School A Big Surprise

Graduates of Pitman High School in Turlock, Calif., got more than just their diplomas on Thursday. They also received a surprise visit from 49ers quarterback and Pitman alum Colin Kaepernick, according to the Modesto Bee.

Kaepernick attended the high school's graduation to say goodbye to one of his former football coaches, Brandon Harris, who is leaving the school.

"I had to say goodbye to one of my good friends, one of the best coaches I've had, Coach Harris," said Kaepernick on stage at the ceremony, in video by Merced Educational Television. "He was the first person to actually let me run the ball a couple times."

At the end of the video, the pair embraced in a hug.

Needless to say, the audience was quite pleased with the famous high school graduate's return. Fellow Pitman alum Kristin Pope told the Modesto Bee she was both surprised and pleased by his appearance.

"It was a total surprise," said Pope. "He's an amazing person to come and say goodbye to his coach. I think it's great. Like, what quarterback in the NFL does that?"

Kaepernick graduated from Pitman in 2006. An NFL.com writer recently named him the third-best quarterback under 25.
