Abbi Jacobson Receives Letter Sent 70 Years Ago To NYC Address, Launches 'Lost Letter Project' (VIDEO)

WATCH: Woman Receives Letter Sent 70 Years Ago

A Greenwich Village woman is calling upon the internet to help deliver a lost letter to its recipient nearly seven decades after it was written.

Abbi Jacobson, a writer and actor living on Macdougal Street in Greenwich Village, received the letter in her mailbox back in February.

Postmarked in 1944 and sent from sent from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, the correspondence was written by Lt. Joseph O. Matthews and addressed to his wife.

Jacobson has scoured city records to track down the whereabouts of Mrs. Joseph O. Matthews, but after months of dead ends, she's decided to crowdsource the investigation.

With the help of filmmaker and friend Todd Bieber (who you may remember from his own mission to track down the owners of lost film from the NYC blizzard), she's launched LostLetterProject.com.
