Global Street Art: MOCAtv Series Heads To Beirut (VIDEO)

LOOK: Art In The Streets Of Beirut

In the fourth episode of MOCAtv's new series, Global Street Art, the YouTube-based project takes on the graffiti scene of Lebanon's capital city, Beirut.

With about a decade of serious street art history behind it, Beirut is a hub for international artists and a haven for politically aware individuals working in a region where graffiti expression is only "more or less" legal.

"The 2006 war was basically the trigger for the graffiti scene in Lebanon -- the one we know now," street artist Kabreet notes in the video. "Beirut is violent; both inspiring and oppressive."

Watch the video above and let us know what you think of the work of Lebanese street artists like EPS, Kabreet, and Ali Rafei. Want more? Check out last week's episode on the Palestinian graffiti scene here.
