Enver Hoxha's Bunkers Still Litter Albania (PHOTOS)

Albania constructed roughly 750,000 bunkers -- roughly one to every four citizens -- during dictator Enver Hoxha's 40-year-reign in an effort to fend off a threat that never materialized. Today, the bunkers are seen as an eyesore by locals and as an odd attractions by tourists.

Over the years, the bunkers have been turned into "zero-star hotels" and, along the coastline, hostels for German and Albanian university students, the BBC reports.
