'Survivor' Ratings: Lowest Premiere In Series History

The Lowest Rated 'Survivor' Premiere Ever

Could "Survivor" get voted off the island? The venerale CBS reality show debuted its "Survivor: Caramoan - Fans Vs. Favorites" edition to the lowest premiere ratings in series history Wednesday night.

Only 8.96 million people watched the 90-minute premiere, Deadline.com reports. That's down 23 percent from last year's winter premiere. The premiere scored a 2.4 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, according to EW.

"Survivor" was going up against Fox's "American Idol," which won the night with 13.4 million viewers.

The sagging ratings are another tough blow to "Survivor" host and executive producer Jeff Probst, whose syndicated talk show "The Jeff Probst Show" was canceled by CBS Tuesday after just one season.

"Survivor: Caramoan - Fans Vs. Favorites" airs Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
