Meredith Is Back On 'Castle': Darby Stanchfield Talks Castle, Beckett And Deep-Fried Twinkies

Will Meredith Cause Problems On 'Castle'?

Castle and Beckett can't catch and break and this time it's Castle's ex-wife Meredith (Darby Stanchfield) who's stirring up trouble.

The woman who Castle once referred to as a "deep-fried Twinkie" is back for the winter premiere of "Castle" (Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC) to help Alexis, but, Stanchfield told HuffPost TV, "There's definitely a secret agenda."

Find out more about Meredith's return to "Castle" below and check back later this week for more from Stanchfield on "Scandal."

We haven't seen Meredith since Season 1. What was it like being back on set?
It was so fun. The first thing I forgot all about was how tall everybody is on that show. I'm like one of the tallest ones on "Scandal." If I'm wearing my four-inch Abby Whelan high heels, I hover over everybody. I literally have a lower pair of high heels that I wear when I do one of the scenes with the guys. But on "Castle," Stana [Katic, who plays Kate Beckett] and now, Molly Quinn [Alexis Castle] -- she's grown -- and Nathan [Fillion, who plays Rick Castle], they're all so tall. So I was like, "Oh right. I'm with the tall family again."

You hadn't seen your TV daughter in four seasons.
I saw her at the TCAs [Television Critics Association Press Tour] either last year or the year before when "Scandal" first came out so we ran into each other. Even then, I told her, "I think you've grown a foot and you look ... " I mean, she's a young woman now.

Last we saw her, Meredith and Castle were still having ex sex and she was his the deep-fried Twinkie. How long do you think it's been since they've slept together?
My guess is that it's probably been since that last time [in Season 1] since they've been together. But with Meredith, it doesn't really matter how much time has passed, she's in her own world and she kind of gets what she wants. If she has some sort of defeat -- she cheated on Castle and they wound up getting divorced -- she still somehow turns it around so that it benefits her or she comes out winning. She's not one that carries around a lot of grief. Even though for me, as an actor, so much time has passed, I just went right back into it and it was really great. I don't think she's changed at all. She's expecting the same sort of things.

Last time, we saw Meredith try to prove to Beckett that she still meant something to Castle.
Oh yeah. She definitely marked her territory by calling him kitten and looking her up and down, sort of sneering.

So what's her reaction to Beckett staying at the apartment?
Well, she comes in because Alexis has mono and she's there to take care of her daughter, but there's definitely a secret agenda, which we'll address.

"Castle" airs Mondays at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
