Golden Globes Winners: 'Argo,' 'Girls' Among List Of 2013 Honorees

Golden Globes Winners Announced

The best of film and television were honored as Golden Globes winners on Sunday night.

The 70th annual Golden Globes, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, were held in Los Angeles at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.

Among the Golden Globes winners for film were "Argo," "Les Miserables," and "Django Unchained."

"Lincoln," Steven Spielberg's film about Abraham Lincoln and his efforts to pass the 13th amendment, received the most Golden Globes nominations, with seven. "Argo" and "Django Unchained" were each next with five, while "Zero Dark Thirty," "Les Miserables" and "Silver Linings Playbook" earned four apiece.

"Lincoln," "Argo," "Zero Dark Thirty," "Django Unchained" and "Life of Pi" were the Golden Globes nominees for Best Picture, Drama; "Les Miserables," "Silver Linings Playbook," "Moonrise Kingdom," "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" and "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" were nominees for Best Picture, Musical or Comedy.

On the television side, "Girls," "Game Change," "Homeland" won.

The HBO movie "Game Change" led the way with five nominations, including Best Performance by an Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television (Julianne Moore). "Homeland" scored four nods, including Best Actress (Claire Danes), Best Actor (Damian Lewis) and Best Television Series, Drama. "Downton Abbey," "The Newsroom," "Boardwalk Empire" and "Breaking Bad" were other shows nominated in the drama category; "The Big Bang Theory," "Episodes," "Girls," "Modern Family" and "Smash" were selected in the musical or comedy category.

The Golden Globes are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Per the Globes website, the group was found during World War II. More about the organization can be found here.
