Mary Hasselberger Crashes Car At 2 Businesses In 2 Days

Woman Who Drove Through Wall Also Crashed Car The Day Before: Cops

Businesses in Naperville, Ill., just can't catch any brakes these days.

Mary Hasselberger 66, was allegedly behind the wheel during car accidents occurring at two separate businesses in two days, the Naperville Sun reported.

Cammiso said that Hasselberger claimed to be having problems with the brake or acceleration, but to the sergeant that "doesn't make much sense," considering the suspect was driving two different vehicles.

The first accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, when Naperville police say the woman plowed her Ford Taurus through a wooden fence separating a Dunkin' Donuts parking lot from a private residence. The vehicle barreled into the yard until it hit a tree and a bench.

Hasselberger didn't get a ticket because the incident occurred on private property, Sgt. Lee Martin, supervisor of the police department's traffic unit, told the Sun.

The next afternoon, the woman was driving a rental Buick Lacrosse when she allegedly crashed through the wall of a Rosin Eye Care, located just three doors down from the site of the first accident. The car was lodged five feet into the building, according to Naperville Patch.

Repairs to the eye care center are estimated at $50,000.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
