Last week, I posted a bracket to determine who fans think deserves Liz Lemon's heart on "30 Rock." Although "sandwiches" put up a pretty good fight, in the end, Jack Donaghy prevailed, and by no small amount. Just goes to show that you guys will never cease to surprise me, because, quite honestly, I only added Jack as an afterthought.
One of the hallmarks of the Jack/Liz relationship has been the simple fact that it's platonic. That alone sets it apart from many other TV shows that rely on a "will they or won't they" motif to maintain interest or buzz, as well as practically every chick flick ever (something "30 Rock" made fun of in this MLK Jr. Day movie trailer). Tina Fey herself has said they won't get together because she thinks it would be lazy. It's always been something I appreciated about "30 Rock," but now, I'm convinced I'm in the minority.
So I'm curious, Liz/Jack shippers: Why Jack? Is it one of those "so wrong it's right" things? Do you just like Jack so much that you can't stand the thought of not voting for him, regardless of the question at hand (which would bode well for Alec Baldwin if he ever goes through with that mayoral run)? Were you just hellbent on making sure "sandwiches" didn't win? Help me wrap my head around this!
